The TinEye browser plug-ins
The TinEye browser plugin is the fastest way to search for web images right from Firefox, Chrome, IE, Safari, or Opera. With the plugin installed, select any web image you come across to search for it on TinEye.
Firefox
How to install
- Click on the Firefox logo above
- Once on the 'Add-ons for Firefox' page, click the green 'Add to Firefox' installation button
- Click 'Install Now'
- Restart Firefox to complete your changes
How to use
- To use the add-on, simply right-click on any web image and select "Search image on TinEye" from the context menu. Results are displayed for you at tineye.com
- To set add-on preferences go to Tools > Add-ons in the Firefox menu bar. Locate 'TinEye Reverse Image search' in the Add-ons window list and click the 'Options' button. From here you can:
- Show/hide TinEye icon in context menu
- Set sort order preference
- Open searches in background, foreground or current tab
How to uninstall
- In the Firefox browser, select 'Tools > Add-ons' from the menu bar
- Select 'TinEye Reverse Image Search' from the Add-ons window list
- Click the 'Uninstall' button
- Restart Firefox to complete your changes
Chrome
How to install
- Click on the Chrome logo above
- Once on the 'Google Chrome Extensions' page, click the blue 'Install' button and confirm if prompted
How to use
- To use the add-on, simply right-click on any web image and select "Search Image on TinEye" from the context menu. Results are displayed for you at tineye.com
- To set extension preferences go to Tools > Extensions in the Chrome menu bar. Locate 'TinEye Reverse Image search' in the extensions list and click the 'Options' link. From here you can:
- Set sort order preference
- Open searches in background, foreground or current tab
How to uninstall
- Click the 'Tools' icon in the Chrome toolbar and select 'Extensions'
- Click 'uninstall' next to the TinEye Reverse Image Search extension
Internet Explorer
April 2011. The TinEye IE plugin has been updated!
Version 1.2 Improvements include:
- Fixed bug where the plugin sometimes failed to work for images from a Google image search in IE8 and IE9
- Added better handling of background images
- Fixed bug where plugin failed to work when searching off a TinEye search result image
- Fixed bug where plugin would always open in a new window instead of a new tab, even if the "Always open pop-ups in a new tab" browser option was set.
How to install
- Click the IE logo above, then select 'Run' from the File Download window
- When asked 'Do you want to run this software?', select 'Run'
- The installer will finish without displaying any message
- Restart IE
- IE8 and IE9 users must enable the "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" security option to run the TinEye plugin. In the IE8 or IE9 browser, go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Security, then check "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" and restart the browser.
- If you would like the plugin to open your TinEye search results in a new IE tab rather than a new IE window in IE8 or IE9, go to Tools > Internet Options > General Tab > Tabs Section > Settings, then choose "Always open pop-ups in a new tab" and click OK.
How to uninstall
- From the Windows Control Panel, select 'Add or Remove Programs' (Windows XP) or 'Uninstall a program' (Vista and Windows 7)
- Choose 'TinEye Internet Explorer plugin v1.x' from the program list to remove
Safari
How to install
- Click the Safari link above
- When asked "Do you want to open or save this file?" select 'Open'
- When asked "Are you sure you want to install the extension 'Tineye'?" click "Install"
- Make sure Safari extensions are enabled by going to Safari settings > Preferences > Advanced in the Safari menu bar. Make sure "Show Develop menu in menu bar" is selected. Then select Page settings > Develop > Enable Extensions
How to use
- To use the extension, simply right-click on any web image and select either "Search Image on TinEye" or "Search Page on TinEye". Results are displayed for you at tineye.com
- To set add-on preferences go to Safari settings > Preferences > Extensions in the Safari menu bar. Locate "TinEye" in the extensions list and click on it. From here you can:
- Set sort order preference
- Open searches in background, foreground or current tab
How to uninstall
- Go to Safari settings > Preferences > Extensions in the Safari menu bar
- Locate "TinEye" in the extensions list and click on it
- Click the "Uninstall" button
Opera
Popup version
How to install
- Click the Opera link above
- Once on the 'Opera extensions' page, click the 'Install' button
- When asked "Install extension?" click "Install"
How to use
- To use the extension, simply click the TinEye 'T' icon in your Opera toolbar. Select the image that you would like to search from the popup window. Results are displayed for you at tineye.com
- To set add-on preferences go to Opera > Extensions > Manage Extensions in the Opera menu bar. Locate "TinEye" in the extensions list and click on on the wrench icon > Preferences. From here you can:
- Set sort order preference
- Open searches in background or foreground tab
How to uninstall
- Go to Opera > Extensions > Manage Extensions in the Opera menu bar
- Locate "TinEye Reverse Image Search" in the extensions list
- Click the "Uninstall" button
